Philip Soran
Lead Independent Director
Philip Soran has served as a director since July 2010 and Chair from 2014 to May 2017, and May 2022 to October 2023. Mr. Soran served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and a director of Compellent Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded software company that he co-founded in March 2002, until its acquisition by Dell Inc. in February 2011, after which he served as the President of Dell Compellent from February 2011 to March 2012. Mr. Soran also serves as Lead Director on the board of directors of Piper Sandler Companies, a publicly traded investment bank. He also serves as a director for Foodsby, a privately-held food delivery service and Spineology, a private medical technology company. He previously served on the board of directors of Help Systems, LLC, a privately held software company, prior to its sale in March 2018 and Hutchinson Technology Incorporated, a public manufacturing company, from 2011 until its 2016 acquisition by TDK Corporation. Mr. Soran was the Executive Chairman of Flipgrid from January of 2015 until its sale to Microsoft in June of 2018. From July 1995 to August 2001, Mr. Soran served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of Xiotech, which Mr. Soran co-founded in July 1995. Xiotech was acquired by Seagate in January 2000. From October 1993 to April 1995, Mr. Soran served as Executive Vice President of Prodea Software Corporation, a data warehousing software company. Mr. Soran also held a variety of management, sales, marketing, and technical positions with IBM. Mr. Soran is also a Trustee for University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota Foundation. He is a Director for the Great Minnesota Schools.
