NEXCOM Outsources EDI Enablement Program Targeting 1300+ Vendors to SPS CommerceMinneapolis, Minn., Dec 4, 2007 - SPS Commerce, a leading trading partner integration center offering fully outsourced Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Catalog functions, announced today that The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) has selected SPS Commerce’s outsourced vendor enablement service. SPS’ enablement program will expand the number of transactions electronically exchanged between NEXCOM and its EDI-enabled vendors, who represent 83 percent of NEXCOM’s volume. With SPS’ assistance, NEXCOM’s vendors will be adding the advance ship notice (ASN) and bar code labels by year-end to offer visibility to in-transit inventory and streamline receiving at NEXCOM’s distribution centers and stores. The enablement program was launched on June 14, 2007, with a webcast to NEXCOM’s vendors announcing the program details.

This program is the next step in NEXCOM’s supply chain strategy. By integrating a growing number of business transactions with its vendors, NEXCOM can experience efficiencies throughout the supply chain, and be prepared for its Transportation Management System (TMS) implementation. NEXCOM has 328 retail locations and 13 distribution centers worldwide. The retailer offers more than 200k items including hard-lines, consumables, soft-lines and services for authorized patrons through its retail stores.

“We are pleased to have been selected by NEXCOM to lead their current enablement program,” commented Archie Black, President and CEO of SPS Commerce. “NEXCOM’s unique retailing focus includes an expansive vendor community, representing manufacturers in grocery as well as discount and high-end consumer goods. Every day SPS provides quality EDI and integration services to thousands of vendors in these categories. We are using this expertise on NEXCOM’s behalf to maximize the adoption of these new transactions across NEXCOM’s vendor community to the benefit of all parties.”
