Management Team
Archie C. BlackMr. Black brings 24 years of management, finance and administration experience in rapid-growth environments to SPS Commerce. He joined SPS Commerce in 1998, and served as senior vice president and CFO until becoming president and CEO in 2001. Mr. Black has been recognized for his leadership as an Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. He is a frequent speaker at industry events.
Prior to joining SPS Commerce, he was a senior vice president and chief financial officer at Investment Advisers, in Minneapolis, Minn., where he directed both the Minneapolis and London organizations. While at Investment Advisors, Mr. Black helped the company grow from $3 billion under management to $17 billion.
Prior to Investment Advisors, he spent three years at PriceWaterhouse. Mr. Black is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Mike GrayMr. Gray brings 27 years of SaaS experience to SPS Commerce. He joined SPS Commerce in 2008, and is focused on delivering proactive customer service, industry-leading reliability, and using the latest technologies available to advance SPS' solutions, architecture, and data center.
Prior to joining SPS, Mr. Gray served as Chief Technology Officer at IDeaS, a provider of SaaS applications for revenue management. At IDeaS, he led a global team who were responsible for the company's data center, infrastructure development, application development, quality, and technology business development. Mr. Gray has also served in various leadership and technical positions during his years at Thomson Reuters and West Publishing, delivering SaaS solutions to the legal and publishing communities.
Mr. Gray has a Bachelor's of Arts in Math and Physics from Hamline University.
Kim NelsonPrior to joining SPS Commerce in 2007, Ms. Nelson led Amazon.com's investor relations department and held other financial leadership positions that focused on financial planning, analysis and forecasting. During her seven years at Amazon, the company grew more than 400%. Before Amazon, she held financial management positions at Pillsbury (now General Mills) and Nestle's beverage division.
Ms. Nelson has a Bachelor's of Science in Finance from Babson College, and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas.
Jim FromeSince joining SPS in 2000, Mr. Frome has expanded and secured the company's leadership position in Web-based EDI. Mr. Frome has been named a "Pro to Know" by Supply & Demand Chain, written numerous whitepapers including Trading Partner Integration Centers The SaaS Model for EDI, and is a frequent speaker at customer and industry events.
Mr. Frome has more than 24 years of experience in technology marketing and management positions. Previously, he served as a divisional vice president of marketing at Sterling Software, and director of product management at Information Advantage.
Prior to Information Advantage, Mr. Frome held several marketing and product development positions in which he focused on building business partnerships and resellers for IBM's AS400 division.
David NovakMr. Novak is focused on expanding the SPS Ecosystem by developing new markets and establishing strategic relationships with our logistics and transportation partners, channel partners, alliances, integrated solution partners.
Mr. Novak has over 21 years of industry experience in business development and sales leadership roles at companies such as Oracle, Siebel, Sterling Software, Accenture. He has also contributed to the success of several startup companies such as nQuire Software and Information Advantage. Mr. Novak has a history of managing high-growth businesses in North America and the Pacific Rim. He most recently served as the Vice President of Sales, North America Business Intelligence for Oracle. Prior to Oracle's acquisition of Siebel, Mr. Novak was Vice President of Sales at Siebel, running the Western US and Asia Pacific for the Business Intelligence division.
Charles HackersonPrior to SPS Commerce, Mr. Hackerson held various consulting and sales positions at Andersen Consulting and Information Advantage. In addition, he was employed by Hewitt Associates where he co-architected a web-based financial reporting data warehouse and developed a series of educational training sessions. Most recently, Mr. Hackerson was regional sales engineer manager at Kana Communications, a leading provider in solutions for Service Resolution Management (SRM).
Mr. Hackerson graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Anne KnappAnne Knapp joined SPS Commerce in 1998 and is responsible for setting and overseeing the strategy of the company's EDI operations, development, program implementation and professional consulting services.
Previously, Ms. Knapp directed product management and development efforts at Mortara Instrument, a manufacturer of diagnostic cardiology equipment. During her tenure at Mortara, Ms. Knapp played an integral role in the introduction of a data management system for the Windows NT environment and the management of client implementations.
Deb RatelleHer goal is to ensure a rewarding and enjoyable work environment for SPS' staff through facilities management and administrative services. Recognizing that people are SPS' most important asset, Ms. Ratelle helps attract, motivate and retain a staff of skilled professionals. In recent years, SPS Commerce has been named a "Best Places to Work" by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal three times.
Prior to joining SPS Commerce in 2002, Ms. Ratelle had more than 17 years of human resources management experience in the financial services and public accounting sectors. Most recently, she was vice president of human resources at Investment Advisers, Inc. where she established the HR Department for the company and managed the domestic and London human resource functions for nine years.
Ms. Ratelle completed the course work for a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota and has more than 20 years of human resource consulting and industry experience.
David VeretteMr. Verette joined SPS Commerce in 2000 and previously held several sales and management positions at the company, most recently serving as Director of Partner Sales. During this time, he created and continues to expand a sales organization that works alongside merchandising, supply chain and IT executives at retailers, grocers, and distributors to optimize their supply chain processes through improved trading partner connectivity and insight. Mr. Verette has demonstrated his leadership and management skills at SPS Commerce by leading sales initiatives that resulted in 8,000 new sales to suppliers and other trading partners that were referred to the company by more than 250 retailers and distributors in 2008.
He is dedicated to serving the needs of SPS' retail customers as they benefit from new and expanding SaaS solutions that greatly improve a retailer's supply chain with improved visibility and reduced costs. In Q1 2009, his sales team was responsible for signing with more than 20 retailers for vendor enablement programs targeting to connect more than 10,000 suppliers, 3PLs, carriers and other trading partners to their retail customers.
Prior to joining SPS Commerce, Mr. Verette was in sales management at Lucent Technologies, where he was frequently recognized with top sales and leadership honors.
Mr. Verette has a Bachelor's of Arts in Speech Communications from California State University Long Beach.
Jim KieleyMr. Kieley brings more than 20 years of experience in professional software development, software architecture, consulting, and leadership positions to SPS Commerce. He has a proven track record of directing and managing Service delivery teams to quickly and efficiently deliver customer value, while maximizing customer satisfaction and utilizing the latest technologies and methodologies.
Prior to joining SPS Commerce in 2010, Jim spent 13 years at Microsoft Corporation, most recently leading the largest Microsoft Consulting Practice in North America, where he was responsible for more than $51 million in annual consulting revenue. He has been recognized for his technical and leadership skills by participating in Microsoft's worldwide High Potential Leadership Development Program.
Mr. Kieley graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, and minor in Mathematics.
